ZIM, Maersk Line and MSC enter a strategic operational cooperation on the Asia-US East Coast trade

2M Alliance partners, Maersk and MSC have teamed up with carrier ZIM Lines on voyages from Asia to the U.S. East Coast.

 

 

The deal will become effective in September of 2018.  2M plans to contribute four of its current five loops between Asia and U.S. East Coast, while ZIM plans to contribute one of its two current loops to operate between Asia and USEC.  Starting early September, the parties will operate together five loops between Asia and the US East CoastZIM will operate one loop and 2M will operate four loops, and the parties will swap slots on all loops.

“It is a vote of confidence by the two largest players in the industry, acknowledging ZIM’s capabilities, reliability and strength.  Furthermore, it will enable ZIM to achieve operational efficiencies and ensure our ability to maintain a leading position on the trade.”
