Another Political Project?

The Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road, also known as The Belt and Road (abbreviated B&R), One Belt, One Road (OBOR) or the Belt and Road Initiative is a development strategy, proposed by People’s Republic of China that focuses on connectivity and cooperation among countries primarily in Eurasia.

China is the first one to get started with infrastructure from Indonesia to Europe. President Xi Jinping has gotten all the Asians thinking and talking optimistically about the new Silk Road. Almost all Asian Financial Forum are approving this project.

Many others are wondering if this will actually be another lamentable project. Back in 2008, President Mahinda Rajapaksa governor at that moment, constructed a new container port on Sri Lanka’s southeastern coast, Hambantota. As part of the “String Pearls” Strategy.
