CP Rail Union Authorizes Strike April 21
Conductors and Locomotive engineers from Canadian Pacific Railway voted to authorize a strike action that could have 3,000 workers walk off the job starting April 21, 2018. The workers are asking for a new agreement, which expired last year, for more predictable schedules to combat crew fatigue, among other things.
According to Surry Now-Leader, “The union argues that rising profits are based off cuts, layoffs, closures and working crews to the point of exhaustion, according to a press release. The union also charges that CP’s profits in 2017 reached $2.4 billion, even while sales were stagnant.”
