FDA to Close DUNS Portal Monday, May 24

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is closing down its online portal that has provided DUNS numbers to inquiring parties. The portal itself existed out of a partnership between the FDA and Dun and Bradstreet. The partnership will end Monday, May 24 and the portal will no longer be active.

According to a release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Dun and Bradstreet will continue to provide DUNS numbers through its own platform. Queries may take up to 45 days to process, however.

CBP recommends visiting the Dun and Bradstreet service page for further information.

FDA Launches New Portal for FSVP Records Submissions

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has opened an all-new portal for submitting FSVP records. Importers of animal and human food products can use the “FSVP Importer Portal for Records Submissions” to submit proper documents electronically.

FSVP refers to Foreign Supplier Verification Programs for Food Importers. This system aims to verify that importers are receiving their food goods from foreign sources that comply with American food safety requirements. The FDA can request prompt delivery of FSVP records. Its new portal expedites electronic records transfers.

According to Customs and Border Protection, FSVP importers with active FDA accounts can access the portal through the FDA Unified Registration and Listing System. Those without active accounts can create new ones to gain access to the portal.

Importers are encouraged to visit https://www.access.fda.gov/  or contact Scarbrough International for more information.
