The Laredo Field Office of Customs and Border Protection has announced that, as of October 12th, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has initiated comprehensive inspections, encompassing 100% of commercial trucks, at the Laredo Colombia Bridge. This is affecting only freight through Colombia bridge, meaning oversized/OD and special equipment, hazmats, and empties going northbound.

The current wait times and the expected duration of the DPS operation are unknown. To address this situation, the World Trade Bridge is open as an alternative entry point into the United States through the Port of Laredo, in alignment with contingency plans.

It has also been noted that Texas DPS has concluded inspections at the ports of Del Rio and Eagle Pass. In the case of the Port of Eagle Pass, CBP confirmed the suspension of passenger vehicle processing operations at Bridge 1, affecting both northbound and southbound traffic.

Scarbrough is aware of the current situation and will continue to monitor and pass along information as it is released. We are here to assist you in any way we can, so please reach out to your Scarbrough rep with any questions.
