Long Beach Chassis Lessors to Beef Up Fleets

Two chassis-leasing companies, DCLI and TRAC Intermodal, will add 3,000 chassis to their Southern California fleets in response to a request by the Port of Long Beach that the private sector step up its efforts to help relieve the growing chassis problem in the harbor. Chassis shortages and dislocations are believed to be the single biggest contributor to marine terminal congestion in Los Angeles-Long Beach. The Port of Long Beach recently formed a congestion relief team to work with port stakeholders to develop a plan for short-, mid- and long-term action plans to address the chassis problem.
