The current labor contract between the International Longshore Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) is set to expire June 30, 2014. Negotiations between the involved parties started this month, and we are continually monitoring the situation.  Check out our NEWs Blog for many articles and updates in regards to the ILWU situation.

Should the parties fail to reach a new agreement by June 30, it is anticipated that it will result in a strike, lockout, work stoppage or other labor related disruption that could potentially affect any US Port Operation.

Major carriers have recently announced, or have already filed, a US Port Congestion Surcharge which can be applied in the event of any congestion or disruption to port operations.

As a result of the Carriers’ Port Congestion Surcharge, Scarbrough International, Ltd. will  only begin charging the following surcharges if the underlying carriers assess the charge.
