Dear Clients, Partners, Vendors, and Friends –

I love traditions and this year we will start a new one here at Scarbrough: The President’s Report. The report will release annually in December. Rather than comment on specific financial metrics, I will focus on the overall state of our business, our team, and our outlook for the coming year.

Scarbrough is a company built on tradition and three simple, yet powerful values: Faith – Family – Work.

You cannot have an in-depth conversation with any member of our team where one of these values does not come up. Each is at the core of who we are as a company. From our founders, Roger and Jeannie Scarbrough, to our newest employee, we do things differently here at Scarbrough because of our values.

I can vividly remember our December 2019 board meeting when the word coronavirus first came up. We were not sure how or if it would impact our clients and employees, let alone our business. As January ended with the Chinese Lunar New Year, we were certain the impact on our business would be significant.

On Monday, March 16, 2020 we had an all-hands meeting to discuss how we were going to handle working from home over the next couple of weeks – now nine months later, we are still mainly working from home. I could not be prouder of how our team has rallied around one another and embraced this change with an unwavering dedication. Their level of care and concern for clients and co-workers shows that you can Expect More from Scarbrough, no matter the circumstances.

Special praise goes out to the truck drivers and warehouse employees who have not missed a single day in the office handling customers’ freight. We owe them a debt of gratitude.

COVID-19 has impacted our business in several ways and, strangely enough, in more positive ways than negative.

  • We made investments in new assets with the purchase of new trailers for Scarbrough Logistics and racking for our newest Scarbrough Warehousing location in Sparks, Nevada.
  • We have also made significant investments in new technology to better serve our employees and clients alike. Both Scarbrough Transportation and Scarbrough International are getting updated client portals with rollouts happening early in this coming year.
  • In addition to these new client portals for tracking and quoting, The Scarbrough Group will be rolling out a refreshed website with better access to news and our YouTube channel along with a more streamlined design.
  • We have also been able to add new team members during these times, our most important investment of all. With this writing we have been able to grow our team over 5% this past year!

Finally, I would be remiss not to thank our agents, vendors, and clients for their continued support. I look forward to the day when we can meet again and get back to our old “normal.” Until then, please stay well as we head into this upcoming holiday season. Enjoy the time you spend with your families and friends a little more this year.

All the best,

Adam Hill
